Introduction

Fundación UCEIF is a private not-for-profit Foundation located in Santander, Northern Spain, created in 2006 by the University of Cantabria (UC) and Santander Bank to become a national and international reference in the generation and transmission of knowledge, high-level training and research in the finance sector. Its mission is to promote the study, training, research and transfer in the financial and business field to contribute to the well-being, sustainable development, and progress of our society while supporting people’s talent and scientific skills. Fundación UCEIF organizes its activities in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, social development, SDG alignment and youth awareness, SMEs, generation of Startups, rural development through Centro Internacional Santander Emprendimiento (CISE). CISE was started in 2012 with the mission to create a better society by encouraging its members’ creative, entrepreneurial and innovative skills through a comprehensive approach that ultimately leads to the generation of entrepreneurial ventures and employment opportunities. We aim to promote an entrepreneurial culture and youth employment by supporting young people through its training and support programs and by connecting research, business and academia to provide holistic programs and activities. The principles that guide all our actions in CISE, both internally and externally, include social commitment, teamwork, quality, transparency, collaboration, innovation, passion, and knowledge. In line with these principles, in CISE we emphasize including smaller regions and cities as well as disadvantaged people in our programs and activities thereby promoting equality of opportunities for all members of our society. CISE has been endorsed by the European Commission to lead several projects that foster entrepreneurship and the soft skills of people around the continent, working with topics such as social economy, social entrepreneurship, digital skills, upskilling educators…

Who’s Involved

José Carlos Ceballos: CISE’s International Area director. Project manager with almost 20 years of experience in identifying, creating and managing projects funded by the United Nations, European Union and Spanish institutions, implemented in several countries (Europe, South America, Middle East and Africa). With wide experience in sustainable development, international cooperation, humanitarian aid, and social movements, he has been working in Fundación UCEIF (CISE) since 2017 for the design and coordination of EU-funded projects in the entrepreneurial education sector, with a special focus on training and knowledge cooperation, social impact, social entrepreneurship, social innovation and/or social inclusion.
María Velasco: CISE’s International Area project officer. Project officer with more than years of experience in administrative management, including EU projects and public administrations. She works in Fundación UCEIF (CISE) since 2021, in the International Projects Area, in the management of EU funded programmes.
Manuel Redondo: CISE’s Director. Project manager with more than 15 years of experience and Director of CISE, he is in charge of the main programmes for fostering entrepreneurial capacities and innovation among universities, such as EXPLORER, and has contributed to the design of multiple methodologies and strategies for major acceleration, pre-incubation, incubation and collaboration processes.
