Competency 1.2:
Ethical & Sustainable Thinking

(Part of Phase 1 – Challenge Framing)

“Ethical and sustainable thinking” allows you to assess the consequences and impact of ideas, opportunities and actions, to estimate the value and the effect of entrepreneurial action on the target community, the market, society and the environment. This competence enables you to reflect on how sustainable long-term social, cultural and economic goals are, and the course of action chosen. Therefore, “Ethical and sustainable thinking” allows you to act responsibly.

In order to create impact through entrepreneurship and to have ethical and sustainable thinking,  it is fundamental to reflect on personal values, to identify and explain how ideals vary among people and over time, while critically evaluating how they align with sustainability values.

Moreover, Ethical and sustainable thinking must promote nature, namely, it has to acknowledge that humans are part of nature, to respect the needs and rights of other species and of nature itself in order to restore and regenerate healthy and resilient ecosystems.
