Phase 2: Solutions Experimenting
The work that was done in Phase 1 is now an engine towards solutions in phase 2. We encourage you to take a coaching role in this phase, setting the context for learners to try out, make things, prototype, test, change, and test again.
Learners are encouraged to use creativity to develop solutions, thinking outside the box. They also experience that teamwork is needed to select and produce solutions for a particular challenge. Working together, they activate human and material resources, and put together all the pieces to make the solution work. They develop prototypes and test these. Using self-assessment and feedback from users, they change their product or service and develop critical thinking.
In this phase, learners will:
- Think outside the box: how can we use our creativity to find solutions for the challenge that were not thought of before?
- Work together as a team: how do we form a group that together has the right skills and resources to tackle the challenge?
- Identify people, resources and materials: what do we need to make our solutions work?
- Do market/user research: who is the target group of our solution and who could be the paying customer?
- Prototype: how can we develop a prototype for our solution, that we can test in practice?
- Test solutions: how do we perform a test and receive useful user feedback?
- Ask critical questions: how do we use self-assessment and feedback to improve our solution?
General learning objectives of Phase 2:
- Generate ideas with social and/or environmental value (impact).
- Create work teams committed to making positive social change.
- Select ideas to define the challenge and possible solutions that can be undertaken as a team and individually.
- Name, recognize and share an impact-driven entrepreneurship project with impact.
Connection to Didactics Principles:
Students who are not conforming with the situation around them, with the answers to current challenges and not even with the initial solutions provided by the system, to do what is in their power and build projects that truly have a social and environmental impact. In this phase, the student profile will be as a continuous researcher for ideas, selecting the most viable and appropriate ones. It will also be the time to surround themselves with partners and alliances that will enable them to realise their vision of the future.
